厦门 06/09/2009
On the 6th of September to 10th of September this year, the Wong family of the 21st and 22nd generation embarked on their journey of discovery, one of tracing their roots and reconnecting with the family line. We travelled to Xiamen, all six of us with representatives from each of the three families from Singapore, back to our hometown, 悠远楼.
It was an unforgettable journey for me.
For one, i suddenly i realized i am the uncle of 2 nephews and 3 nieces, and to find many more cousins and relatives as we dived deeper into the extended family back home throughout the 5 days stay. It was a revelation i tell you. To know that many people who share the same ancestors with you, and to actually sense that they care within that short period of less than a week.
By the end of the trip, i was already missing the warmth of the family.
This trip is a milestone, a first of hopefully many future trips by the Wong family stationed in Singapore.
Below are some of the pictures taken on the first day of the trip, 6/9/09.
P.S.: They are captioned in Chinese so as to facilitate easier understanding if the family back in China sees them. Im still brushing up my Chinese so the next few posts can only be in English.
Ha!

Day 1
我们到厦门了!
大家都在老家迎接我们的来临。过了近四个小时的车程,一路从厦门机场到老家,感觉是温馨的。
在座右旁的是我的公公婆婆。 而在中间的是我的曾祖父祖母。
